GedScape is software for browsing GEDCOM files and exporting web sites. PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT LET YOU ENTER DATA - I.E. YOU CANNOT USE IT TO CREATE A FAMILY TREE IN THE FIRST PLACE OR TO EDIT A GEDCOM FILE It lets you view the individuals and families within a GEDCOM file, including photos, citations and notes with a simple, intuitive browser-style interface - without having to load it into your genealogy database first. View indexes of individuals, dates & places, charts including pedigrees, family charts, and descendants charts, a gallery of all photos. Generate a web site for your GEDCOM file that looks exactly the same as it does within GedScape, including charts, indexes and photos. Examine the low-level structure of a GEDCOM file (i.e. at the tag level) but with added hyperlinks to move within the file. GedScape is an ideal utility if youre a genealogy researcher and you need a quick and easy way to browse GEDCOM files without the hassle of loading them into your existing genealogy database, or you want to create a family tree website and your existing genealogy program isnt up to the job.
